Port Stanley blows out Lucan, 6-3

The Port Stanley Sailors had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over the Lucan Irish.

The win by Port Stanley clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

The Sailors forced Lucan's goalies to work all game long, taking 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Dylan Hoover made 22 stops and Joseph Frustaglio made 15.

Port Stanley was helped by Tyson Corkum, who racked up one goal. Corkum scored 5:31 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Port Stanley. Zach Zinga provided the assist. Port Stanley additionally got points from Andrew Yurek, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tanner Turley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Port Stanley also had goals scored by Luke McGuire, who had one and Josh Tremblay, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Graham Silcox, Tom Yurek, and Findley Brandon, who each chipped in one.

The Sailors were unable to stop the Irish from sending pucks towards the net, and Lucan eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Irish were helped by Dylan Murray, who registered one goal. Murray scored on the power play 17:32 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Port Stanley. Lucan had gained a power play chance when Austin Blais was whistled for roughing. Colin Hartwick assisted on the tally. Mitch Smith also scored for Lucan. More assists for Lucan came via Keiron Cobban, who had one.

Port Stanley's Brandon Garner stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Sailors incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Irish incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
