Northern Lakes holds on for 3-2 win against Achiever NE AcademyBreezy Point Ice Arena Mon, Jan 14, 2013 The Achiever NE Academy Aces tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Northern Lakes Lightning held on for a 3-2 victory. Northern Lakes took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Achiever NE Academy storm back on a Cameron Hamlet goal 13:44 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Ben Moe had a great game for the Lightning, netting two goals. Northern Lakes' offense rang up 31 shots on the Aces' net. Northern Lakes also got a goal from Aspen Florey as well. In addition, Northern Lakes received assists from Alex Galligan, who had one and Kegan Couture, who had two. Achiever NE Academy did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Aces put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Achiever NE Academy did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force eight saves. The Aces were helped by Baron Thompson, who tallied one goal. Thompson scored 2:35 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Achiever NE Academy. Cory Sprague provided the assist. More assists for Achiever NE Academy came via Tyler Thompson, who had one. Mitch Stangel made eight saves for the Lightning on 10 shots. Northern Lakes avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays. Cameron Madrid rejected 28 shots on goal for Achiever NE Academy. The Aces ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play.
