Texas rolls over Dakota, 7-3

Texas had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over Dakota.

Lawrence Cornellier was all over the ice for Texas, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Cornellier scored 2:11 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Texas.

Texas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dakota to score on any of its three power plays. Texas found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Texas has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. With 54 shots on target during the contest, Texas exceeded the 49.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Texas additionally got points from Conor ONeil, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Zane Popilock, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Texas included Kyle Bauman, who had one and Gage Christianson, who had three. More assists for Texas came via Justin Greenberg, who had three and Joe Ginley, Eliot Grauer, Omar Mullan, Wayland Williams, and Emil Romig, who each chipped in one.

Dakota made Texas' netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 43 shots and forcing 40 saves. Paul Berrafato made 17 stops and Hayden Stewart made 23.

Dakota was helped by Patrick Moore, who had two goals. Moore scored the first of his two goals at 8:19 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Texas. Adam Knochenmus assisted on the tally. Moore's next tally made the score 6-3 Texas with 11:22 left in the third period. Knochenmus picked up the assist. Dakota also got a goal from Jadin Martin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dakota were Scott Dornbrock, Jeremy OKeefe, and Jake OBorsky, who contributed one a piece.

Texas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nicholas Lehr took the loss and made 29 saves before being replaced by Aaron Nelson who made 18 saves. Dakota incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
