Campbellford uses fast start to beat Deseronto, 8-1

The Campbellford Rebels opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 8-1 over the Deseronto Storm.

Campbellford got the win on the strength of a great game by Kenny Turcotte, who had two goals and two assists. Turcotte scored the first of his two goals at 4:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford. Jon Samis picked up the assist. Turcotte's next tally made the score 2-0 Campbellford with 14:59 left in the first period. Nick Orton assisted on the tally.

The Rebels made Deseronto's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 59 shots and forcing 51 saves. amos lloyd made 10 stops and Ben Elliot made 41. Campbellford managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Rebels finished below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Campbellford's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Rebels average 4.8 goals per contest.

Campbellford also got points from Ryan Crowley, who also had one goal and two assists and Orton, who also registered two goals and two assists. Mitch Burkitt also scored for Campbellford. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Steven Clarke, Chris Klompmaker, Josh Adams, Mitch Gibson, Connor Turland, Dylan Baxter, Hunter Fargey, and jeremy dorghty, who contributed one a piece.

Cole Mahoney made 21 saves for Campbellford on 22 shots. The Rebels registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. The Storm ended with no penalties and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
