Schneider's hat trick boosts Willmar over Hutchinson, 5-2

Rochester: Graham Arena 1    Sat, Dec 29, 2012

Hunter Schneider lifted the Willmar Cardinals to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Hutchinson Tigers.

Schneider notched his first tally zero seconds into the third period. He then added goals at zero seconds into the third and at zero seconds into the third.

The Willmar penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 10.0 minutes per game the Cardinals had been spending in the box.

Willmar was unable to stop Hutchinson from sending pucks towards the net, and the Tigers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Hutchinson was led by Tory Adams, who tallied two goals. Adams scored the first of his two goals at zero seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hutchinson. Matthew Cowger picked up the assist. Adams' next tally made the score 2-2 with 20:00 left in the third period. Keegan Maceman provided the assist. More assists for Hutchinson came via Cody Nielson, who had one.

The Cardinals' Joey Benson stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Willmar registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Zach Allen made 16 saves for the Tigers on 21 shots. Hutchinson incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
