Faribault rips Minnehaha Academy, 7-1

The Faribault Falcons had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks.

Faribault was sparked by Christan Von Ruden, who had one goal and one assist. Von Ruden scored 2:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Faribault. Cody Colegrove assisted on the tally.

Minnehaha Academy was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and Faribault eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Falcons surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Faribault averages 3.6 goals per contest. The Falcons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Faribault also got points from Daniel Pierce, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Faribault included Issiah Brogden, who had two and Tyler Becker and Logan Murphy, who each put in one. More assists for Faribault came via Jacob Werner, Riley Jandro, and Evan Jensen, who each chipped in one and Turner Putrah and Connor Wierschem, who contributed two a piece.

The Red Hawks' offense operated below they season average. Minnehaha Academy puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game.

Faribault's Riley Hullett stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. The Falcons totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Alex Katz made 41 saves for the Red Hawks on 48 shots. Minnehaha Academy totaled 37 minutes in penalty time with one minor and three majors and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For the Red Hawks, David Schuyler was ejected from the game.
