Lakeville South survives Centennial comeback, wins 5-4

The Lakeville South Cougars survived a determined comeback attempt by the Centennial Cougars on the way to a 5-4 win.

Lakeville South made the score 5-2 on a goal by Drew Byers at 15:02 in the second period, and Centennial got as close as 5-4 when Adam Anderson scored 9:12 into the third period.

Byers had a great game for the Cougars, netting two goals.

The 30 shots that Lakeville South put on net surpassed the Cougars' average of 2.1 shots per game this season. Lakeville South found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Cougars average 2.8 goals per contest. Lakeville South's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Lakeville South additionally got points from Ben Freemark, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Patrick Lauderdale, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Lakeville South also got a goal from Weston Baumann as well. In addition, Lakeville South received assists from Mack Farley, Jake Rahbain, Nick Swaney, and Cameron Jackson, who each chipped in one.

By firing 29 shots on goal, the Cougars exceeded the 1.5 shot they average per game this year. Centennial's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Cougars give up 2.2 goals per game.

Jordan Pitlick also scored for Centennial. More assists for Centennial came via Wyatt Close, Andrew Bertrand, Hans Gorowsky, and Ryner Gorowsky, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler Schumacher made 25 saves for the Cougars on 29 shots. Lakeville South incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Centennial's Patrick Munson stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Cougars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
