Mounds View rolls over Champlin Park, 8-0

The Mounds View Mustangs were firing on all cylinders against the Champlin Park Rebels, and when the final buzzer sounded Mustangs emerged with an 8-0 win.

John Sarafolean had two goals to lead Mounds View to victory. Sarafolean scored on the power play at 2:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mounds View and again while 39 seconds into the third to make the score 6-0 Mounds View.

The Mustangs bested their season scoring average. This season, Mounds View averages 4.7 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Mustangs were also effective in Champlin Park's zone, and came away with four goals. The 32 shots that Mounds View put on net surpassed the Mustangs' average of 0.3 shots per game this season.

Mounds View additionally got points from Jacob Tretsven, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Darian Romanko, who also had one goal and two assists, and Max Knutson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mounds View also got a goal from Matt Hunt as well. More assists for Mounds View came via Tucker Gran, who had two, Ryan Elvidge, who had three, and AJ Rupert, Andrew Bjorklund, and Andrew Gretsch, who contributed one a piece.

Brandon Smith made 16 saves for Mounds View on 16 shots. The Mustangs avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored two goals off of zero power plays. Tyler Nelson rejected 24 shots on goal for the Rebels. Champlin Park ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
