NWO Grrrowl rolls over Great Lakes Lightning, 7-1

NWO Grrrowl had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Great Lakes Lightning.

Great Lakes Lightning was stymied by NWO Grrrowl netminder Vincent Ryckman, who stopped 34 shots during the victory. Ryckman managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 6.5 prior to the game.

NWO Grrrowl was sparked by Steven Kubas, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kubas scored 5:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NWO Grrrowl. Michael Munoz assisted on the tally.

NWO Grrrowl made Great Lakes Lightning's goalies to work in net, ripping 43 shots and forcing 36 saves. Garrett Avery made 24 stops and Colin Walsh made 12. NWO Grrrowl's goal total was higher than its season average. NWO Grrrowl averages 3.1 goals per game. The defensemen of NWO Grrrowl were also effective in Great Lakes Lightning's zone, and came away with three goals.

NWO Grrrowl also got points from John Cahill, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Munoz, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Grant McCormack, who also registered one goal and one assist. NWO Grrrowl also got a goal from Dustin Kein as well. Other players who recorded assists for NWO Grrrowl were Ryan Santo, who had two and Cody Staub, Dalton Gertsen, and Gilbert Guerro, who each chipped in one.

NWO Grrrowl was unable to stop Great Lakes Lightning from sending pucks towards the net, and Great Lakes Lightning eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Great Lakes Lightning was led by Colton James, who scored the team's only goal. James scored 6:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 NWO Grrrowl.

NWO Grrrowl totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Great Lakes Lightning incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
