Duluth East rips Edina, 4-1

The Duluth East Greyhounds were firing on all cylinders against the Edina Hornets, and when the final buzzer sounded Greyhounds emerged with a 4-1 win.

Edina was stymied by Duluth East netminder Dylan Parker, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Parker certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.12 entering the contest.

The Greyhounds pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Duluth East put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hornets to score on any of their seven power plays. The Greyhounds' offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 5.3 shots per game they average.

Duluth East was helped by Jack Forbort, who finished with one goal. Forbort scored short handed 7:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Duluth East. The Greyhounds played down a man on Phil Beaulieu's slashing. Ryan Lundgren picked up the assist. Duluth East also got a goal from Brian Bunten as well. Other players who recorded assists for Duluth East were Beau Hughes, who had two and Joey Marinac and Nick Altman, who contributed one a piece.

Edina did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Hornets put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. Edina's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Hornets give up 1.6 goal per game. Edina forced Duluth East goalie Parker to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Hornets were led by Ben Hull, who scored the team's only goal. Hull scored 16:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Duluth East. Andy Jordahl assisted on the tally.

The Greyhounds registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Willie Benjamin made 26 saves for Edina on 30 shots. The Hornets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
