Fergus Falls rips River Lakes, 7-1

The Fergus Falls Otters were firing on all cylinders against the River Lakes Stars, and when the final buzzer sounded Otters emerged with a 7-1 win.

Fergus Falls was led by Adam Evenson, who racked up one goal. Evenson scored short handed 6:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fergus Falls. The Otters found themselves down a man on Colton Buseth's interference. Jesse Ketonen provided the assist.

Fergus Falls kept River Lakes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris Skluzacek made 37 saves on 44 shots. The Otters' goal total was higher than their season average. Fergus Falls has scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Fergus Falls also got points from Joe Nathe, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Connor Tarczon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Fergus Falls also had goals scored by Aidan Colling, who had two and Taylor Lemke and Sam Rausch, who each put in one. More assists for Fergus Falls came via Casey Ward, who had two and Kyler Peterson and Alex Phillipe, who each chipped in one.

The Stars managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. River Lakes wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game.

River Lakes also got a goal from Matt Kissner as well. In addition, River Lakes received assists from Dylan Jude, who had one.

Andrew MacFarlane made 19 saves for the Otters on 20 shots. Fergus Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Stars registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
