Redwood Valley rolls over Worthington, 8-2Worthington High School Tue, Dec 04, 2012 The Redwood Valley Cardinals had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over the Worthington Trojans. Austin Kretsch had one goal and three assists to lead Redwood Valley. Kretsch scored short handed 42 seconds into the third period to make the score 6-1 Redwood Valley. The Cardinals found themselves down a man on Logan Sandgren's roughing. Jacob Prouty assisted on the tally. Redwood Valley kept Worthington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Purdy made 27 saves on 35 shots. The Cardinals found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Redwood Valley averages 4.5 goals per game. The Cardinals got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Redwood Valley also got points from Prouty, who also registered two goals and one assist. Hunter Breidenbach also scored for Redwood Valley. In addition, Redwood Valley received assists from Chris Hallden and Lane Stadther, who each chipped in one. The Trojans were led by Alex Kremer, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kremer scored 12:00 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Redwood Valley. Worthington also got a goal from Andrew Johnson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Worthington were Levi Leach, who had one. Amadus Jesinghaus made 27 saves for Redwood Valley on 29 shots. The Cardinals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Worthington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
