Levere leads East Coast over Potomac, 5-1

The East Coast Eagles were firing on all cylinders against the Potomac Patriots, and when the final buzzer sounded Eagles emerged with a 5-1 win.

East Coast got the win with help from a great game by Kyle Levere, who had two goals and one assist. Levere scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 East Coast. The Eagles had taken the advantage when Potomac's Kyle Powers got sent off for elbowing. Christopher Adamson assisted on the tally. Levere's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 East Coast with 14:29 left in the second period. Jacob Weldon picked up the assist.

The Patriots were stymied by East Coast netminder Roman Riselvato, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. The solid play of Riselvato will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.38.

Potomac was unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and East Coast eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Eagles' penalty kill managed to stymie the Patriots' power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down. East Coast struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 32 penalty minutes for 12 opposing power plays.

East Coast also got points from Shane Selan, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Adamson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Thomas Gilmartin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for East Coast were Bruce Chappell, Bailey King, and Christopher Grosvenor, who contributed one a piece.

Potomac forced the Eagles goalie Riselvato to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Patriots were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 34 penalty minutes.

Potomac also got a goal from Tyler Nolan as well. More assists for Potomac came via Jeffrey Egan, who had one.

East Coast registered two goals on 13 power play opportunities. Derek Guzik recorded 34 saves for Potomac.
