Hopkins falls to Woodbury in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Woodbury Royals pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Hopkins Royals on a clutch goal by Jack Glaeser.

Woodbury overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Royals fell behind 3-0 after a power play goal by Hopkins' Jim Copouls at 4:26 in the third period. Woodbury tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Mark Dornfeld at 9:19 in the third period.

Geno Demke was all over the ice for the Royals, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Demke scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:37 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Hopkins. Woodbury had gained a power play chance when Tim Patterson was whistled for interference. Dornfeld assisted on the tally. Demke's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Hopkins with 13:16 left in the third period. Dornfeld picked up the assist.

Woodbury additionally got points from Dornfeld, who also finished with one goal and two assists. In addition, Woodbury received assists from Ford Pendleton, who had two and Sam Gazzola, Ryan Winter, and Dan Armstrong, who each chipped in one.

The Royals' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Hopkins is averaging 1.7 goal against for the season. The 41 shots that the Royals put on net surpassed Hopkins' average of 3.7 shots per game this season.

Jonah Shoemaker-Gagnon also scored for Hopkins. Other players who recorded assists for Hopkins were Joshua Laven, who had two and Max Ostenso, Anthony Degiulio, and Austin Bizal, who contributed one a piece.

Evan Broadbent rejected 38 shots on goal for the Royals. Woodbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Royals' Josh Kuehmichel stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Hopkins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
