Forest Lake beats Park of Cottage Grove 7-4 as Kilpela gets hat trick

A hat trick by Weston Kilpela was the highlight in Rangers' 7-4 win against the Park of Cottage Grove Wolfpack.

Kilpela notched his first tally 4:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:06 into the second and at 1:14 into the third.

The Forest Lake Rangers kept Park of Cottage Grove's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Strand made 34 saves on 41 shots. Forest Lake surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Rangers average 4.9 goals per game. Forest Lake cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on three chances.

Forest Lake also got points from Kyle Parker, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Alex Egle, who also had one goal and one assist. Trevor Thompson also scored for Forest Lake. More assists for Forest Lake came via Ryan Herbert, who had four and Landon Pikala and Noah Brown, who each chipped in one.

The Wolfpack were helped by Eric Stoffel, who racked up one goal and two assists. Stoffel scored on the power play 9:15 into the third period to make the score 6-1 Forest Lake. Park of Cottage Grove had taken the advantage when the Rangers' Egle got sent off for slashing. Nicholas Moser provided the assist. Park of Cottage Grove additionally got points from Moser, who also registered two goals and one assist. Park of Cottage Grove also got a goal from Brent Wallace as well. In addition, Park of Cottage Grove received assists from Jacob Garr, who had two and Russel Damsgard and Dylan Radke, who contributed one a piece.

Collin Peterson rejected 14 shots on goal for Forest Lake. The Rangers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Wolfpack totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play.
