Huge game by Donavan boosts North High over St. Francis, 5-2

The North High Polars' Ryan Donavan had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the St. Francis Saints.

Donavan beat Darion Hanson with a shot 3:20 into the third period on the power play to make the score 3-1 North High. North High had gained a power play chance when Jimmy Mayer was whistled for roughing. Justin Oliver assisted on the tally. Donavan dished an assist on Oliver's goal that made the score 1-1 at 13:21 into the first period. He added another helper on Mark Meister's goal that made the score 5-1 North High at 11:31 into the third period.

The Polars forced St. Francis goalie Hanson to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

North High also got points from Oliver, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Maverick Meister also scored for North High. More assists for North High came via Frank Flaherty, who had two and Kyle Blom and Jake Dahlberg, who contributed one a piece.

The Saints did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. St. Francis averages 4.7 goals per game. North High was unable to stop the Saints from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Francis eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Saints were helped by Zach Foesch, who had one goal and one assist. Foesch scored 3:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Francis. Tate Blankenship provided the assist. St. Francis additionally got points from Blankenship, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for St. Francis were Jordan Olson, who had one.

The Polars' Steve Orne stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. North High incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hanson rejected 31 shots on goal for St. Francis. The Saints incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
