The Warroad Warriors and the East Grand Forks Green Wave skate to 4-4 (OT) tieThe Gardens Sat, Feb 02, 2013 Even though Warroad's Ben Smieja netted two goals and Casey Anderson ccontributed one point, the Warriors was held to a tie by East Grand Forks, 4-4 (OT). The Green Wave were unable to stop Warroad from sending pucks towards the net, and the Warriors eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Warroad additionally got points from Kobe Roth, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Warroad were Jared Bethune, Brandon Newhouse, and Nick Jaycox, who each chipped in one. East Grand Forks forced Warroad goalie Justin King to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Green Wave's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. East Grand Forks is averaging 1.7 goal against for the season. The Green Wave were led by Nick Korynta, who tallied two goals. Korynta scored the first of his two goals at 14:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 East Grand Forks. Nick Ranten assisted on the tally.
