Minnetonka outlasts Wayzata, 4-2

The Minnetonka Skippers gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Wayzata Trojans.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Max Coatta at 3:48 of the third period.

Minnetonka got the win on the strength of a great game by Coatta, who had one goal and two assists.

The Skippers' offense rang up 34 shots on Wayzata's net.

Minnetonka additionally got points from Connor Thie, who also registered two goals and one assist. Minnetonka also got a goal from Charlie Huminski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minnetonka were John Schuldt and Jack Ramsey, who contributed one a piece.

The Trojans' offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 4.8 shots per game they average.

Wayzata was helped by Chandler Linstrand, who finished with one goal. Linstrand scored 11:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brian Machut also scored for Wayzata. More assists for Wayzata came via Chase Heising and Chase Haller, who each chipped in one.

Paul Ciaccio made 27 saves for Minnetonka on 29 shots. The Skippers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Aaron Dingman rejected 30 shots on goal for the Trojans. Wayzata incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
