Minnetonka squeaks by Edina, 4-3

The game between the Minnetonka Skippers and the Edina Hornets was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Minnetonka emerged with a 4-3 win.

The Skippers gained the winning advantage on a goal by AJ Klein 1:36 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Minnetonka was led by Tommy Brandabur, who registered one goal and one assist. Brandabur scored 4:19 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Minnetonka.

By firing 23 shots on goal, the Skippers exceeded the 5.1 shots they average per game this year.

Max Coatta also scored for Minnetonka. In addition, Minnetonka received assists from Tommy Vannelli, Connor Thie, and Jack Ramsey, who each chipped in one.

Edina's offense was clicking better than usual and put 24 shots on goal during the game, better than the 13.6 shots per game it averages. The Hornets' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Edina averages 1.9 goal allowed per game. The Hornets' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 13 shots between them.

Edina was helped by Dylan Malmquist, who racked up one goal. Malmquist scored 11:19 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Minnetonka. Andy Jordahl provided the assist. Edina also got points from Miguel Fidler, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Tim Spicola, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Edina came via Anthony Walsh, who had one.

Minnetonka's Jacob Berger stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Skippers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Andrew Rohkohl made 19 saves for the Hornets on 23 shots. Edina incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
