Achiever NE Academy erases deficit to stun St. Paul Como Park, 4-3

The Achiever NE Academy Aces rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the St. Paul Como Park Cougars.

Achiever NE Academy never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Aces trailed 3-1 after a goal by St. Paul Como Park's Tom McCullough at 7:46 in the second period. Achiever NE Academy knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Cory Sprague at 13:12 in the second period. The Aces scored the game winner at 5:08 in the third period on a goal by Sprague.

Achiever NE Academy put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cougars to score on any of their three power plays.

Achiever NE Academy also got a goal from Tyler Thompson as well. In addition, Achiever NE Academy received assists from Ryan Finnegan, who had two and Brennan McGuire and Matt Minish, who contributed one a piece.

St. Paul Como Park's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Achiever NE Academy power plays. The Cougars did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 11 saves.

St. Paul Como Park was helped by Evan Berger, who tallied one goal. Berger scored 8:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Paul Como Park. Peter Gaertner provided the assist. Tor Will also scored for St. Paul Como Park. Other players who recorded assists for St. Paul Como Park were Sawyer Scanlon, who had one.

Cameron Madrid rejected 11 shots on goal for the Aces. Achiever NE Academy incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Cougars' Ernie Mantel stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. St. Paul Como Park incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
