Jackson nets hat trick, leads Tartan to 5-2 win over South St.Paul

Jake Jackson netted a hat trick to lead the Tartan Titans over the South St.Paul Packers, 5-2.

Jackson notched his first tally 3:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:50 into the second and at 16:21 into the second.

Tartan forced South St.Paul goalie Grant Amelse to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Titans' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Packers' power play unit.

Tartan additionally got points from Zach Ledman, who also had one goal and two assists. Eric Olheiser also scored for Tartan. In addition, Tartan received assists from Rusty Axtman and Mike Winberg, who each chipped in one and Jacob Picht and Brady OSullivan, who contributed two a piece.

South St.Paul got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Packers were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 20 penalty minutes.

South St.Paul was helped by Jack Pietruzewski, who grabbed two goals. Pietruzewski scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dan Pietruzewski assisted on the tally. Pietruzewski's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 14:11 left in the first period. The Packers earned a power play opportunity when Connor Simons was put in the box for holding. Pietruzewski provided the assist. More assists for South St.Paul came via Billy Brandecker, who had two.

Gabe Splichal rejected 22 shots on goal for Tartan. The Titans incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. South St.Paul's Amelse stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced.
