Richfield blows out St. Paul Highland Park, 6-1

The St. Paul Highland Park Scots had trouble finding ways to stop the Richfield Spartans, which beat Scots, 6-1.

Richfield got the win behind a great game by Kody Ahlstrand, who had two goals and one assist. Ahlstrand scored the first of his two goals at 15:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Richfield. Drew Saastad assisted on the tally. Ahlstrand's next tally made the score 6-1 Richfield with 4:12 left in the third period. The Spartans had gained a power play chance when Andy Hallock was whistled for tripping. Trigve Duryea picked up the assist.

Richfield stifled St. Paul Highland Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Scots were unable to stop the Spartans from sending pucks towards the net, and Richfield eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Spartans outdid their season average for goals scored. Richfield averages 2.6 goals per game.

Richfield additionally got points from Saastad, who also registered one goal and two assists, Duryea, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Kevin Krohn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Alex Mendele also scored for Richfield. In addition, Richfield received assists from Andrew Allen, McCoy Jessen, Kevin Ahlstrand, and Bailey Olson, who each chipped in one.

St. Paul Highland Park was led by Charlie Sutmar, who scored the team's only goal. Sutmar scored 9:15 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Richfield. Dylan Zavoral assisted on the tally.

John Meyer made 17 saves for the Spartans on 18 shots. Richfield incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Howie Sands recorded 39 saves for the Scots. St. Paul Highland Park incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
