Slattery leads Hill-Murray over North High, 8-4North High School Thu, Jan 31, 2013 Mitch Slattery was all over the ice for the Hill-Murray Pioneers, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Hill-Murray's 8-4 win over the North High Polars. Slattery found the back of the net 36 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hill-Murray and again while 3:27 into the first to make the score 2-0 Hill-Murray.The Pioneers' penalty kill excelled, as Hill-Murray gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. The Pioneers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 8.0 minutes per game Hill-Murray had been spending in the box. The Pioneers stifled North High's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hill-Murray outdid its season average for goals scored. The Pioneers have scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Hill-Murray's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Pioneers average 1.6 goal allowed per game. With 58 shots on target during the contest, Hill-Murray exceeded the 2.9 shots it averages per game this year. Hill-Murray also got points from Josh French, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Zach LaValle, who also had one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, and Sam Becker, who also registered one goal and three assists. Hill-Murray also got a goal from Mike Rawlings as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hill-Murray were Joey Anderson, who had two and Dustin Krueger and Willie Brown, who contributed one a piece. The Polars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. North High was led by Mark Meister, who finished with three goals. Justin Oliver also scored for North High. In addition, North High received assists from Tony Bollman, who had two and Connor Campbell and Jake Dahlberg, who each chipped in one. John Dugas recorded 19 saves for the Pioneers. Hill-Murray registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Polars' Mario Bollman stopped 50 shots out of the 58 that he faced.
