Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Florida Eels defeated the Atlanta Knights in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.Florida Eels overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Florida Eels was down 1-0 after a goal by Atlanta's Alex MacInnis at 17:19 in the first period. Florida Eels tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Matthew Kiesel at 21:48 in the second period. The Knights were stymied by Florida Eels netminder Marc Terriault, who stopped 44 shots during the victory. Terriault certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.78 entering the contest. Florida Eels could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Florida Eels puts an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Florida Eels kept Atlanta's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lucas Thurston made 32 saves on 34 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Florida Eels were Daniel Boyd and Patrick Daniels, who each chipped in one. The Knights put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Florida Eels to score on any of its three power plays. Atlanta's offense operated below it season average.
