Johnson's big game bests Eveleth-Gilbert in 7-0 Hibbing / Chisholm win

Behind a great game by Adam Johnson, who had one goal and four assists, the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets defeated the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears, 7-0.

Johnson beat Derek Hirsch with a shot 1:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hibbing / Chisholm. Cole Schafer assisted on the tally. Johnson dished an assist on Colten Perkins's goal that made the score 2-0 Hibbing / Chisholm at 6:04 into the first period. He then added assists on Billy Wherland's goal at 9:01 into the first, on Ty Birdsall's goal at 10:16 into the first, and on Birdsall's goal at 15:27 into the first.

Hibbing / Chisholm excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Bluejackets' goal total was higher than their season average. Hibbing / Chisholm has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Bluejackets put 52 shots on net during the contest, more than the 0.6 they average per game.

Hibbing / Chisholm additionally got points from Derek Abrahamson, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Perkins, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hibbing / Chisholm were Eric Gotz, who had two and Eric Riihinen and Dylan Carlson, who each chipped in one.

Eveleth-Gilbert did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Golden Bears put an average of 2.6 pucks into the net per game. Eveleth-Gilbert did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Tyler Carlson recorded 10 saves for Hibbing / Chisholm. The Bluejackets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Golden Bears' Hirsch stopped 45 shots out of the 52 that he faced. Eveleth-Gilbert incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
