Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl squeaks by International Falls, 3-2

The game between the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils and the International Falls Broncos was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Travis Kemp at 12:31 of the third period.

The Blue Devils were paced by Kemp, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl forced International Falls goalie Wesley Gunnerson to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl also got points from Zach Voss, who also had one goal and one assist and Zach Kalisch, who also tallied one goal and two assists.

The Broncos put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blue Devils to score on any of their four power plays.

International Falls was helped by Lucas Debenedet, who registered one goal. Debenedet scored 11:52 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Kyler Schneider provided the assist. Jackson Vollom also scored for International Falls. In addition, International Falls received assists from Erik Lassila, Luke Spilde, and Jordan Tilander, who each chipped in one.

Lucas Murray recorded 24 saves for Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl. The Blue Devils incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Broncos' Gunnerson stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. International Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
