Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl downs Rochester Mayo in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Travis Kemp gave the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Rochester Mayo Spartans when he scored 7:46 into the extra period.

Although Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Rochester Mayo kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Spartans pulled to within 2-1 on a power play goal by Tommy Fjelsted at 7:41 in the third period.

Kemp was all over the ice for the Blue Devils, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Kemp scored the first of his two goals at 13:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl. Kemp's next tally made the score 3-2 Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl with 12:14 left in overtime. Zach Voss picked up the assist.

Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl also got points from Voss, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Rochester Mayo's offense rang up 41 shots on Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl's net.

Other players who recorded assists for Rochester Mayo were Ryan Martin and Adam Alcott, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Sederlund rejected 39 shots on goal for the Blue Devils. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Case Hansen recorded 14 saves for the Spartans. Rochester Mayo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
