Huge game by Swanson boosts Wadena-Deer Creek over Greenway, 10-5

Mitchell Swanson was all over the ice for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines, as he tallied seven goals and one assist in Wadena-Deer Creek's 10-5 win over the Greenway Raiders.

Swanson notched his first tally 1:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:13 into the second, at 6:46 into the second, at 11:08 into the second, at 17 seconds into the third, at 3:39 into the third, and at 6:17 into the third.

The Wolverines made Greenway's goalies to work all game long, launching 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Sam LaDoux made 12 stops and Mike LaDoux made 14. Wadena-Deer Creek bested its season scoring average. This season, the Wolverines average 4.4 goals per contest.

Wadena-Deer Creek additionally got points from Bridger Pettit, who also racked up one goal and five assists and Dylan Phillips, who also registered one goal and three assists. Wadena-Deer Creek also got a goal from Otto Asp as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wadena-Deer Creek were Christian Berg, who had two and Mike Behl, Mike Paavola, and Jake Krause, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders were helped by Jayden Gangl, who had one goal and one assist. Gangl scored 16:59 into the first period to make the score 3-3. Greenway also got points from Alex Troumbly, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Zach Childs, who also had one goal and one assist. Darin Estey also scored for Greenway. More assists for Greenway came via Joe LaDoux, who had one and Bazil Zuehlke, who had two.

Cory McManigle took the win and made 14 saves before being replaced by Wesley Janson who made seven saves. Wadena-Deer Creek incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Greenway totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
