Benilde St. Margarets uses fast start to beat Hibbing / Chisholm, 8-0

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets, which could not recover and fell to the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights, 8-0.

Grant Besse was all over the ice for Benilde St. Margarets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Besse scored the first of his two goals at 6:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Benilde St. Margarets. Spencer Naas picked up the assist. Besse's next tally made the score 5-0 Benilde St. Margarets with 16:10 left in the second period. Nate Labosky provided the assist.

The Red Knights managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Benilde St. Margarets ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. The Red Knights was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Benilde St. Margarets averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. The Red Knights' offense was clicking better than usual and put 38 shots on goal during the game, better than the 17.8 shots per game they average.

Benilde St. Margarets also got points from Naas, who also had one goal and two assists and Evan Fleming, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Benilde St. Margarets were Johnny Austin, Ben Newhouse, and Nick Austin, who each chipped in one and Alec Baer and Chase Jungels, who contributed two a piece.
