International Falls completes comeback, beats Lake of the Woods/Indus, 3-2

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the International Falls Broncos battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Lake of the Woods/Indus Bears.

International Falls never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Broncos fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Lake of the Woods/Indus' Evan Torgeson at 11:48 in the first period. International Falls tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Erik Lassila at 5:11 in the third period. The Broncos netted the game winner at 8:28 in the third period on a goal by Lassila.

Jack Mellstrom had two goals to lead International Falls to victory.

The Broncos' penalty kill unit could not stop the Bears' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

International Falls additionally got points from Lassila, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for International Falls came via Kyler Schneider, who had one and Lucas Debenedet, who had two.

Lake of the Woods/Indus avoided man-down situations well, finishing with one major for five minutes in penalty time. The Bears finished below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game.

Lake of the Woods/Indus also got a goal from Kenton Peters as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lake of the Woods/Indus were Jaden Gustafson, who had one and Cole Nelson, who had two.

International Falls' Wesley Gunnerson stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Broncos incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kyle Olson recorded 26 saves for Lake of the Woods/Indus.
