King stymies Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl, Warroad wins 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Justin King helped the Warroad Warriors defeat the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils, 3-1.

Warroad was paced by Jared Bethune, who racked up one goal. Bethune scored 2:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Warroad. Nick Jaycox provided the assist.

The Warriors did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Warroad averages 5.5 goals per game. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl was unable to stop the Warriors from sending pucks towards the net, and Warroad eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Warroad also got a goal from Ben Smieja as well.

The Blue Devils were led by Louie Judnick, who scored the team's only goal. Judnick scored on the power play 16:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl had gained a power play chance when Casey Anderson was whistled for tripping. Tom Ostergaard assisted on the tally.

King recorded 29 saves for the Warriors. Warroad incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Blue Devils' Andrew Sederlund stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
