Okeson leads Roseau over Crookston, 6-2Crookston Civic Arena Thu, Jan 03, 2013 Tanner Okeson had one goal and two assists to lead the Roseau Rams to a 6-2 victory over the Crookston Pirates. Okeson beat Adam Huglen with a shot 9:54 into the second period on the power play to make the score 3-1 Roseau. An interference penalty on Doug Larson had put Roseau on the power play. Jack Helgeson provided the assist. Okeson dished an assist on Zach Yon's goal that made the score 4-1 Roseau at 12 seconds into the third period. He added another helper on Yon's goal that made the score 5-1 Roseau at 49 seconds into the third period.The Rams found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Roseau has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Rams took advantage of Crookston's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. Roseau additionally got points from Alex Strand, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Alex Ziegler, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Yon, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Roseau came via Jake Leverington, who had one and Alex Halstensgard, who had two. The Pirates did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Crookston averages 4.3 goals per game. The Pirates forced Roseau goalie Ryan Anderson to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Crookston was led by Curtis Regan, who racked up one goal. Regan scored 1:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Crookston. Connor Morgan picked up the assist. Ryan Bittner also scored for Crookston. In addition, Crookston received assists from Ethan Mercil, who had one. Anderson recorded 31 saves for the Rams. Roseau ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Adam Huglen made 18 saves for the Pirates on 24 shots. Crookston incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
