Crookston blows out Red Lake Falls, 5-1Red Lake Falls High School Tue, Nov 27, 2012 The Red Lake Falls Eagles had trouble finding ways to stop the Crookston Pirates, which beat Eagles, 5-1. Crookston was sparked by Brady Heppner, who finished with one goal. Heppner scored 12:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Crookston. Chandler St. Michel assisted on the tally. The Pirates stifled Red Lake Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Crookston kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wyatt Casavan made 56 saves on 61 shots. Crookston additionally got points from St. Michel, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ryan Edevold, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Ethan Mercil, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Kyle Proulx also scored for Crookston. Other players who recorded assists for Crookston were Connor Morgan, who had one and Kal Salentiny and Ryan Bittner, who contributed two a piece. The Pirates' defense shut down Red Lake Falls' forwards for much of the game, and the Eagles got off only seven shots during the contest. Red Lake Falls was led by Tristan Knott, who scored the team's only goal. Knott scored 6:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Amiot picked up the assist. Parker Epema made six saves for Crookston on seven shots. The Pirates incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
