Huge game by Herdt boosts Moorhead over Warroad, 6-2

Aaron Herdt had one goal and two assists to lead the Moorhead Spuds to a 6-2 victory over the Warroad Warriors.

Herdt scored short handed 4:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Moorhead. Moorhead played down a man on Jacob Odegard's tripping. Nicholas Uglem assisted on the tally. Herdt dished an assist on Patrick O''Connor's goal that made the score 2-1 Warroad at 8:45 into the first period. He added another helper on Uglem's goal that made the score 5-2 Moorhead at 12:45 into the third period.

The Spuds outdid their season average for goals scored. Moorhead averages 3.8 goals per game. By firing 39 shots on goal, the Spuds exceeded the 1.4 shot they average per game this year.

Moorhead also got points from Uglem, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Grant Weiss, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Austin Skjefte also scored for Moorhead. In addition, Moorhead received assists from Tony Uglem, who had one and Will Borgen, who had three.

Warroad's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Warriors are averaging 2.1 goals against for the season.

Warroad was helped by Kyle Sylvester, who grabbed one goal. Sylvester scored on the power play 5:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Warroad. Jared Bethune provided the assist. Warroad also got a goal from Ben Smieja as well. More assists for Warroad came via Luke Jaycox and Nick Jaycox, who contributed one a piece.

Moorhead's Jacob Dittmer stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Spuds incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. For Moorhead, Tucker Masseth was ejected from the game. Justin King rejected 33 shots on goal for the Warriors. Warroad incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
