Early goals doom Simley, falls to St. Thomas Academy, 11-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Simley Spartans, which could not recover and fell to the St. Thomas Academy Cadets, 11-1.

St. Thomas Academy was paced by Dan McManus, who registered one goal and one assist. McManus scored 4:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Thomas Academy. Henry Hart assisted on the tally.

The Cadets surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Thomas Academy has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The 52 shots that the Cadets put on net surpassed St. Thomas Academy's average of 1.4 shot per game this season.

St. Thomas Academy additionally got points from Jack Stang, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Jake Geiser, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Tom Novak, who also racked up three goals and one assist, and Alex Johnson, who also finished with one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. St. Thomas Academy also got a goal from Peter Tufto as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas Academy were Jack Dougherty, who had two, Christiano Versich, who had three, and T.J. Samec, Wyatt Schmidt, Zach Weier, Seamus Donohue, and Matt Perry, who each chipped in one.

Simley found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere six shots against the Cadets' defense.

Conor Murphy recorded five saves for St. Thomas Academy. The Cadets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Sarantos made 41 saves for the Spartans on 52 shots. Simley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
