Hill-Murray blows out Tartan, 5-1Aldrich Arena Sat, Jan 26, 2013 The Hill-Murray Pioneers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Tartan Titans. Mitch Slattery had one goal and two assists to lead Hill-Murray. Slattery scored 43 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hill-Murray. Sam Becker picked up the assist. The Pioneers' John Dugas was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Dugas managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.61 prior to the game. Hill-Murray's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Tartan power plays. The Pioneers put 48 shots on net during the contest, more than the 3.4 they average per game. Hill-Murray also got points from Willie Brown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Becker, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Josh French also scored for Hill-Murray. More assists for Hill-Murray came via Joey Anderson, Dan Dolan, Ryan Black, and Tyler Funk, who contributed one a piece. Tartan managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Titans ended up below its season average of 8.0 penalty minutes per game. Tartan could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Titans average 4.8 goals per game. Tartan's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Titans are averaging 2.3 goals against for the season. Hill-Murray incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gabe Splichal recorded 43 saves for Tartan.
