Tartan pulls away in second, rolls over Richfield, 10-1

The Tartan Titans used a six-goal second period to put away the Richfield Spartans, 10-1.

Brady OSullivan had two goals and two assists to lead Tartan. OSullivan scored the first of his two goals at 55 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Tartan. OSullivan's next tally made the score 7-1 Tartan with 8:59 left in the second period. Eric Geskerman provided the assist.

The Titans stifled Richfield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tartan forced the Spartans goalie Zach Ulmer to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. The Titans outdid their season average for goals scored. Tartan averages 5.0 goals per game.

Tartan additionally got points from Connor Simons, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Kevin Reddy, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jake Jackson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tartan also had goals scored by Ryan Hartzell, who had two and Jacob Picht, Rusty Axtman, and Zach Ledman, who scored one goal each. More assists for Tartan came via Charlie Lupelow, Brody Johnson, Hank Ryan, Eric Olheiser, Mike Winberg, and Michael Friberg, who contributed one a piece.

Richfield was led by Alex Mendele, who scored the team's only goal. Mendele scored 14:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1.

Gabe Splichal recorded 17 saves for the Titans. Tartan incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Ulmer rejected 44 shots on goal for the Spartans. Richfield ended with no penalties and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
