Broetzman's big game bests Tartan in 7-2 St. Thomas Academy win

Alec Broetzman was all over the ice for the St. Thomas Academy Cadets, as he tallied two goals and one assist in St. Thomas Academy's 7-2 win over the Tartan Titans.

Broetzman found the back of the net 13:40 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Thomas Academy and again while 10:25 into the third to make the score 7-2 St. Thomas Academy.

Tartan was unable to stop the Cadets from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Thomas Academy eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Cadets outdid their season average for goals scored. St. Thomas Academy has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The Cadets took advantage of the Titans' penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities. The defensemen of St. Thomas Academy were also effective in Tartan's zone, and came away with two goals.

St. Thomas Academy also got points from Tom Novak, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Alex Johnson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jack Dougherty also scored for St. Thomas Academy. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas Academy were Peter Tufto, who had two and Wyatt Schmidt, Zach Weier, Gunnar Regan, Seamus Donohue, and Christiano Versich, who contributed one a piece.

The Titans were held below their usual level of production. Tartan averages 4.2 goals per game. The Titans' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Tartan gives up 2.3 goals per game.

The Titans were led by Zach Ledman, who had one goal. Ledman scored on the power play 6:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tartan. Connor Simons assisted on the tally. Tartan also got a goal from Brody Johnson as well. In addition, Tartan received assists from Brady OSullivan, who had one.

David Zevnik rejected 17 shots on goal for the Cadets. St. Thomas Academy incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gabe Splichal made 35 saves for Tartan on 42 shots. The Titans incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
