Hill-Murray wins tough contest against Benilde St. Margarets, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Hill-Murray Pioneers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Benilde St. Margarets Red Knights.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Zach LaValle's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

LaValle had two goals and one assist to lead Hill-Murray. LaValle scored the first of his two goals at 9:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hill-Murray. Mitch Slattery picked up the assist. LaValle's next tally made the score 3-2 Hill-Murray with 16:01 left in the third period. Willie Brown provided the assist.

Hill-Murray additionally got points from Slattery, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Hill-Murray also got a goal from Tyler Funk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hill-Murray were Coten Greeder and Jacob Olson, who each chipped in one.

Benilde St. Margarets could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Red Knights average 5.0 goals per game. Benilde St. Margarets put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 8.7 it averages per game.

The Red Knights were led by T.J. Moore, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Moore scored 4:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Benilde St. Margarets. Nate Labosky picked up the assist. Spencer Naas also scored for Benilde St. Margarets. In addition, Benilde St. Margarets received assists from Johnny Austin and Ben Newhouse, who contributed one a piece.

John Dugas made 23 saves for the Pioneers on 25 shots. Hill-Murray incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Benilde St. Margarets' Andrew Sprang stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Red Knights incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
