McNamee nets hat trick, leads St. Paul Como Park to 7-3 win over Richfield

Mitch McNamee netted a hat trick to lead the St. Paul Como Park Cougars over the Richfield Spartans, 7-3.

McNamee's first goal came 4:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:44 into the third and at 2:59 into the third.

Richfield was unable to stop St. Paul Como Park from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. St. Paul Como Park's penalty kill unit could not stop the Spartans' power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

St. Paul Como Park also got points from Toom McCullough, who also had two goals and three assists and Sawyer Scanlon, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Anders Sateren also scored for St. Paul Como Park. More assists for St. Paul Como Park came via Billy Mangan, who had one.

Richfield kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ernie Mantel made 33 saves on 36 shots. The Spartans managed to stay out of the box for the most part, totaling only one major for 15 minutes in penalty time.

Richfield was helped by Kevin Krohn, who racked up one goal. Krohn scored on the power play 8:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Paul Como Park. Jack Stellon picked up the assist. Richfield additionally got points from Drew Saastad, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Trigve Duryea, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Richfield received assists from Kody Ahlstrand, who had two.

St. Paul Como Park incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. John Meyer rejected 25 shots on goal for the Spartans.
