Wayzata rolls over Hopkins, 5-1Plymouth Ice Center Sat, Feb 16, 2013 The Wayzata Trojans had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Hopkins Royals. Matthew Freytag had a great game for Wayzata, netting two goals. Freytag scored at 14:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wayzata and again while on the power play 3:15 into the second to make the score 3-0 Wayzata. The 34 shots that the Trojans put on net surpassed Wayzata's average of 4.4 shots per game this season. Wayzata additionally got points from Kyle Olson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Chase Haller also scored for Wayzata. Other players who recorded assists for Wayzata were Chase Heising and Chandler Linstrand, who each chipped in one and Jalen Wahl and Jack Sorensen, who contributed two a piece. Hopkins barely challenged the opposing netminder, taking only 14 shots on target to force 13 saves. Still, the total topped the Royals' average of 1.0 per game this year. Hopkins was led by Matt Hines, who scored the team's only goal. Hines scored on the power play 6:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wayzata. Tim Weiner provided the assist. The Trojans' Aaron Dingman stopped 13 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Wayzata finished the contest with no penalties and went 2-for-0 with the man advantage. Josh Kuehmichel recorded 29 saves for the Royals. Hopkins ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play.
