Edina wins tough contest against Eden Prairie, 4-3

The Edina Hornets and the Eden Prairie Eagles were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Edina made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

The Hornets gained the winning advantage on a goal by Tyler Nanne 15:38 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Nanne was all over the ice for Edina, as he finished with two goals in the win.

The Hornets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. By firing 45 shots on goal, Edina exceeded the 22.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Edina also got points from Dylan Malmquist, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Edina also got a goal from Parker Reno as well. In addition, Edina received assists from Matt Nelson, who had one and Connor Hurley, who had three.

Eden Prairie's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 14.1 shots per game it averages.

The Eagles were led by Mason Bergh, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Bergh scored 13:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Eden Prairie. Steven Spinner provided the assist. Luc Snuggerud also scored for Eden Prairie. Other players who recorded assists for Eden Prairie were Michael Graham, who had one.

Willie Benjamin made 26 saves for the Hornets on 29 shots. Edina totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Jake Kielly recorded 41 saves for Eden Prairie. The Eagles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
