The Hopkins Royals had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats.

Jim Copouls was all over the ice for Hopkins, as he registered two goals in the win. Copouls scored at 10:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hopkins and again while 16:40 into the second to make the score 3-0 Hopkins.

The Royals' penalty kill excelled, as Hopkins gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Royals stifled Chisago Lakes Area's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Hopkins kept the Wildcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyler McKnight made 31 saves on 35 shots. The Royals could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Hopkins also got points from Ryan Kimbrel, who also had one goal and one assist and Joshua Laven, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Hopkins came via Anthony Degiulio, who had two and Austin Fisher, Matt Hines, and Time Weiner, who contributed one a piece.

Chisago Lakes Area excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Sam Dalton recorded 23 saves for Hopkins. The Wildcats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
