Mork's hat trick boosts Academy of Holy Angels over Shakopee, 7-1

Frankie Mork lifted the Academy of Holy Angels Stars to a 7-1 victory with a hat trick against the Shakopee Sabers.

Mork notched his first tally 7:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:04 into the second and at 3:41 into the third.

Academy of Holy Angels led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring three goals in the second.

Shakopee was stymied by the Stars netminder Zack Mains, who stopped 34 shots during the victory. The solid play of Mains will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.97.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Academy of Holy Angels' offense was clicking better than usual and put 34 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.9 shots per game it averages. The Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Academy of Holy Angels also got points from Marshall Barnes, who also registered one goal and one assist. Academy of Holy Angels also had goals scored by Tom Sullivan, who had one and Joe Sullivan, who had two. More assists for Academy of Holy Angels came via Andrew Willner, who had two, Mario Bianchi, who had three, and Owen Larson, Ben Haeg, Cooper Sande, and Parker Loving, who contributed one a piece.

The Sabers' offense rang up 35 shots on Academy of Holy Angels' net.

Shakopee was led by Sheldon Miks, who scored the team's only goal. Miks scored on the power play 13:04 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Academy of Holy Angels. Sam Scott assisted on the tally.

The Stars registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Sabers' Sean Surbaugh stopped 27 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Shakopee incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
