New Prague takes care of Albert Lea early, wins 9-0

A five-goal first period deficit cost the Albert Lea Tigers, which could not recover and fell to the New Prague Spartans, 9-0.

New Prague got the win with help from a great game by Austin Isaacson, who had two goals and two assists. Isaacson scored the first of his two goals at 6:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Prague. Ben Witt assisted on the tally. Isaacson's next tally made the score 5-0 New Prague with 3:50 left in the first period. Seth Kriha provided the assist.

The Spartans stifled Albert Lea's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New Prague was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Spartans gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. New Prague kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Garret Matz made 29 saves on 38 shots. The Spartans' goal total was higher than their season average. New Prague averages 3.3 goals per game.

New Prague additionally got points from Cody Meyer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Nick Sampson, who also had one goal and one assist, Austin Kilian, who also registered one goal and four assists, and Kriha, who also finished with three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. New Prague also got a goal from Lucas Binger as well. In addition, New Prague received assists from Casey Busch, Alex Gregor, Ryan Drazan, and Kain Wagner, who each chipped in one.

Albert Lea did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Tigers average 2.4 goals per game.

Evan Bisek made 17 saves for the Spartans on 17 shots. New Prague incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Albert Lea incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
