New Prague holds on for 4-3 win against Chanhassen

The Chanhassen Storm tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the New Prague Spartans would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Lucas Binger put New Prague up 4-2 in the third period, but Chanhassen pulled to within one on Luke Rongitsch's tally 15:55 into the third period.

The Spartans were paced by Binger, who racked up one goal. Binger scored 9:56 into the third period to make the score New Prague. Nick Sampson assisted on the tally.

New Prague excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Spartans' offense rang up 31 shots on the Storm's net.

Jake Witt also scored for New Prague. Other players who recorded assists for New Prague were Jack Pexa, who had two and Cody Shimota, Kain Wagner, Jordan Lein, Evan Bisek, and Evan Bisek, who each chipped in one.

Chanhassen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New Prague to score on any of its three power plays.

The Storm were led by Jack Spillers, who had two goals. Spillers scored the first of his two goals at 3:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chanhassen. Bryson Burkholder provided the assist. Spillers' next tally made the score 2-0 Chanhassen with 15:05 left in the first period. Burkholder assisted on the tally. More assists for Chanhassen came via Ryan Schwarz, Jake Theis, and Jake Bever, who contributed one a piece.

Bisek rejected 19 shots on goal for the Spartans. New Prague incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Erik Anderson recorded 27 saves for Chanhassen. The Storm ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
