The Winona Winhawks and the Red Wing Wingers skate to 3-3 (OT) tieBud King Ice Arena Thu, Dec 13, 2012 Winona and Red Wing could not settle their match and fought to a 3-3 tie. The Winhawks kept the Wingers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Preston Blaney made 31 saves on 34 shots. Winona was helped by Luke Hemker, who grabbed one goal. Hemker scored 2:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Red Wing. Jacob Kelly picked up the assist. Winona also got points from Kelly, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alex Johnson also scored for Winona. More assists for Winona came via Ryan Grant and Jake Kline, who each chipped in one. Red Wing managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Wingers wound up below its season average of 4.0 penalty minutes per game. Red Wing forced the Winhawks goalie Andrew Yeske to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Wingers were helped by Mitch Ramstad, who racked up one goal. Ramstad scored on the power play 14:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Red Wing. Red Wing had gotten the advantage when Winona's Hemker was sent off for interference. Dylan Goggin provided the assist.
