Wayzata rolls over Stillwater, 4-0

The Wayzata Trojans had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over the Stillwater Ponies.

Wayzata was led by Brian Machut, who grabbed one goal. Machut scored on the power play 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wayzata. The Trojans had taken the advantage when Stillwater's Peyton Gosso got sent off for tripping. Jack Sorensen picked up the assist.

Wayzata excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. With 25 shots on target during the contest, the Trojans exceeded the 2.7 shots they average per game this year.

Wayzata also got points from Matthew Freytag, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Akash Batra also scored for Wayzata. Other players who recorded assists for Wayzata were Chad Olson, Robert Zitzlperger, and Jacob Moelk, who each chipped in one.

The Ponies' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Stillwater gives up 1.9 goal per game.

Jens Vaughn Arens recorded 15 saves for Wayzata. The Trojans incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Ponies' Colton Anderson stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Stillwater incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
