Edina downs Elk River, 4-1

Cullen Munson grabbed two points to lead the Edina Hornets to a 4-1 victory over the Elk River Elks.

The defense for Edina played an important role offensively, racking up 17 shots on goal. The 41 shots that the Hornets put on net surpassed Edina's average of 21.4 shots per game this season.

Edina also got a goal from Miguel Fidler as well. Other players who recorded assists for Edina were Bo Brauer, who had two and Parker Reno, Matt Nelson, Andy Jordahl, and Matt Masterman, who contributed one a piece.

Elk River barely challenged the opposing netminder, totaling only 13 shots on target to force 12 saves. However, the Elks racked up more shots in the game than the 4.9 per game they average. Elk River could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Elks average 3.1 goals per game.

Elk River was led by Wyatt Edge, who scored the team's only goal. Edge scored on the power play 3:25 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Edina. The Elks earned a power play opportunity when Hayden Anderson was put in the box for cross checking. Andrew Zerban provided the assist.

Willie Benjamin rejected 12 shots on goal for the Hornets. Edina incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Elk River's MacLean Berglove stopped 37 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Elks totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
