Hopkins beats St.Louis Park 2-1 after comeback scareSt. Louis Park East Tue, Dec 11, 2012 The St.Louis Park Orioles tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Hopkins Royals held on for a 2-1 victory. Hopkins made the score 2-0 on a goal by Tim Patterson at 6:11 in the second period, and St.Louis Park got as close as 2-1 when JACOB LUKASAVAGE scored 13:17 into the third period. The Royals were sparked by Patterson, who grabbed one goal. Hopkins' offense rang up 42 shots on the Orioles' net. Hopkins also got a goal from Jonah Shoemaker-Gagnon as well. In addition, Hopkins received assists from Jim Copouls, Time Weiner, Joshua Laven, and Collin Sween, who contributed one a piece. St.Louis Park excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. By firing 22 shots on goal, the Orioles exceeded the 3.7 shots they average per game this year. Other players who recorded assists for St.Louis Park were CASEY PLENDER and CHARLIE HILLS, who each chipped in one. Sam Dalton made 21 saves for the Royals on 22 shots. Hopkins ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. RYAN FROOM recorded 40 saves for St.Louis Park. The Orioles incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
